Clinical Social Worker


Carrie Wollmershauser is a licensed MSW who graduated from Washington University, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, St. Louis, MO in 2000. She has held previous clinical positions in the areas of mental health, international adoption, refugee resettlement and domestic violence. Her work with asylees and refugees in NYC began in 2005 with her employment at Nah We Yone as their Social Services Coordinator. Nah We Yone is a small community based non-profit located in Harlem working specifically with African asylees and refugees. This position allowed Carrie to provide comprehensive concrete services to a much under served population in NYC, including individual counseling, support groups and case management referrals. Carrie also assisted with program development, grant writing, evaluations and supervision of interns in this position. Carrie has continued to volunteer with Nah We Yone in their annual Camp De Fambul through fund-raising and camp coordination, as well as co-facilitating their monthly Women's Wellness Group. Carrie has developed a passion and commitment to serving the needs of the African community, as well as other refugee communities in NYC. She is pleased to be the first Clinical Social Worker to join the multi-disciplinary team at Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture in providing services to these populations.
